Name Released In Codington County Fatal Crash

What:    One-Vehicle Crash

Where:  Near the intersection of 164th Street and 466th Avenue

              4.5 miles east of Waverly, S.D.

When:   8:06 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022 

Driver: Isaiah Horne, Sr., 36, Sisseton, S.D., Fatal Injuries

Vehicle: 1994 GMC Sierra C1500 Pickup 

WAVERLY, S.D. – A Sisseton, S.D., man has been identified as the person who died Thursday morning in a one-vehicle crash east of Waverly.   

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 1994 GMC Sierra C1500 pickup was eastbound on 164th Street near the intersection with 466th Avenue when the vehicle left the roadway and entered the south ditch. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle eventually went into the north ditch where it rolled. 

Isaiah Horne, Sr., the 36-year-old driver, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary. 

The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
