Brookings County authorities responded on April 26 to a residential structure fire at 2531 30th Street West, northwest of Brookings. The incident occurred at approximately 5:06 PM and involved multiple local emergency agencies.

The event is significant as it resulted in substantial property damage, with the owners estimating losses at about $350,000. Two renters were displaced by the fire, and the American Red Cross has been notified to assist them.

According to the report, all occupants and pets were safely out of the home before firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported. Fire crews remained on scene for roughly three hours while working to control and investigate the blaze. The cause remains under investigation by the Brookings Fire Department.

Agencies responding included all six Brookings County fire departments, the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office, and Brookings Ambulance.
