South Dakota State announced on May 1 that its men’s golf team will compete in the Summit League Championships from Sunday, May 3 to Tuesday, May 5 at Longbow Golf Course in Mesa, Arizona. The event will feature nine teams playing three rounds over three days at the par-72, 7,050-yard course.

The tournament is significant as South Dakota State aims for its third Summit League title and first since winning back-to-back championships in 2016 and 2017. The Jackrabbits are seeded fourth this year and have recorded a team average of 289.61 strokes per round—the second-best season average in program history.

The lineup for South Dakota State includes Tyler Seeling, Bryson Mercier, Jake Olson, Jacob Wilson, and Drew Teeter with Ty Adkins as a substitute. Seeling was named to the Summit League Second Team while Wilson earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team. Seeling leads the team with a scoring average of 72.48 this year and recently matched an NCAA single-round record by shooting a score of 60 during the season opener.

Longbow Golf Club has hosted the championship for two consecutive years after being redesigned in 2003 to include expanded facilities and increased yardage. According to information provided by Longbow Golf Course’s website, these changes were made to enhance playability for golfers of all skill levels.

Other top contenders include Oral Roberts—who enters as defending champion—and Denver University which boasts a conference-leading scoring average of 288.4 strokes per round. St. Thomas holds the third seed based on Clippd rankings after matching SDSU’s season scoring average.

Looking ahead, four out of five players from last year’s Jackrabbit championship lineup return this season as they seek another league title.
