There were 10,256 total OASDI widow and parent beneficiaries in South Dakota in 2021, a 2.7 percent decrease from 2020, according to the official Social Security Administration website.

There were 10,541 total beneficiaries in 2020.

The Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI) program is a Social Security Administration program funded primarily through payroll taxes. It was signed into law in 1935 by then-President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
