Beginning Monday, January 27, 2025, Interstate 229 northbound in Sioux Falls will undergo a lane reduction. The affected stretch runs from 26th Street to Rice Street and is expected to be reduced to one lane daily between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., weather permitting. This lane reduction is scheduled to last until Friday, January 31, 2025.

The purpose of the lane reduction is to facilitate repairs on existing luminaires located on the barrier wall from 18th Street to 6th Street. Action Systems of Sioux Falls, SD, serves as the prime contractor for this $2.5 million multi-phase project.

The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) aims "to provide a safe and efficient public transportation system." For updates on road conditions, closures, construction zones, and other traffic-related information, the public can visit https://sd511.org or dial 511.
