The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) has announced an informational meeting to discuss the reconstruction project of U.S. Highway 18 and S.D. Highway 407 in Pine Ridge. The meeting is scheduled for March 4, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. (MT) at the SuAnne Big Crow Youth Center gymnasium in Pine Ridge.
If weather conditions necessitate a change, the meeting will be postponed to March 6, 2025, at the same time and location.
Individuals requiring assistance under the Americans with Disabilities Act are advised to contact the SDDOT ADA Coordinator at least two business days before the meeting. The venue is confirmed as physically accessible.
The reconstruction project starts approximately one-quarter mile north of the intersection of Highway 18 and Highway 407 and extends southward for about one-quarter mile. It also stretches eastward from this intersection for approximately three-quarters of a mile toward Pine Ridge Hospital. The scope includes grading, curb and gutter installation, storm sewer work, roadway lighting, paving with asphalt and concrete, traffic signals, ADA sidewalk upgrades, and watermain improvements.
Paul Reed Construction & Supply, Inc., based in Gering, NE, has been named as the prime contractor for this $21.3 million project. The completion is anticipated by October 2026.
For further details or inquiries regarding the project, Tim Wicks can be contacted at 605-673-4948 or via email at tim.wicks@state.sd.us.
