Work is set to begin on Interstate 29 at exit 9, with construction projected to start at exit 15 by late April. The project will involve joint replacement, bearing replacement, abutment repair, box girder end repair, approach cold milling, asphalt concrete resurfacing, and guardrail resetting.
Lane closures are planned across the bridges with temporary speed limit reductions and portable traffic control signals in place to manage traffic through the work zones. During the abutment repair phase, the bridges will be temporarily closed to traffic. The bridge at exit 9 is expected to be closed for six weeks while the bridge at exit 15 will be closed for three weeks. Both bridges will not be closed simultaneously. Motorists should anticipate delays during these periods and will be directed to a signed detour route on I-29 during closures.
General Excavating of Lincoln, NE is contracted for this $1 million project which has an overall completion date set for October 31, 2025.
