The South Dakota Lottery has introduced a new feature allowing players to claim qualifying prizes through its mobile app. This development enables lottery participants to claim instant and lotto prizes ranging from $101 to $5,000 using the mobile cashing option. Once a mobile claim is processed, winners will receive their prize via an ACH transaction.

"We are excited to offer this opportunity to our players," stated Executive Director Norm Lingle. "Providing players with this new technology will greatly improve their experience. We want our players to be able to celebrate their wins without worrying about the logistics of claiming a prize at one of our three offices."

Previously, players had to visit a South Dakota Lottery validation center or use mail services for claims exceeding $100. The validation centers are located in Pierre, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls.

To initiate a mobile claim, users must open the official South Dakota Lottery app available on both Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Players can scan a ticket with a qualifying prize and complete a digital form to finalize the claim process.

Players should ensure they have the latest version of the app and camera permissions enabled for mobile cashing functionality. Mobile claims are expected to be completed within four business days; however, the first claim may take up to eight business days due to bank account verification.

The app allows users to track existing and previous claims through the My Claims page. The Lottery advises signing the back of winning tickets and retaining them until claims are finalized.

Regular debt setoff procedures will be conducted by the Lottery as required by state law during the mobile claims process. Necessary tax documents and other information will be emailed when applicable.
