The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) and the South Dakota Farm Bureau (SDFB) are inviting applications for the Century Farm and Ranch program. This initiative recognizes family farms and ranches in South Dakota that have been owned for 100 years or more. The recognition will take place at this year's State Fair.

To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate continuous ownership of at least 80 acres of the original farmland for a century. Families with ownership reaching 125 or 150 years can apply for Quasquicentennial or Sesquicentennial recognition. Applications must include documentation of the original purchase date.

Application forms are available online or by contacting the SDFB. The deadline for submissions is August 1, 2025. The recognition event is scheduled for August 28 at the South Dakota State Fair in Huron.

The State Fair begins on August 27 and concludes on September 1. For more information, contact the Fair office or visit their website and social media pages.
