The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has launched a new advertising campaign across radio, billboards, and digital platforms to thank Senate Majority Leader John Thune for his efforts in making the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction permanent. The ads are running statewide and acknowledge Thune's vote to maintain the deduction, which NFIB says prevents a significant tax increase for small business owners.
The campaign is part of NFIB’s ongoing advocacy work supporting the Small Business Deduction. The advertisements highlight Leader Thune's actions and express appreciation for his support of South Dakota’s small businesses.
“Making the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction permanent is a big win for Main Street,” said NFIB South Dakota State Director Jason Glodt. “By voting to protect this tax relief, Leader John Thune has given small business owners in South Dakota the certainty they need to grow their operations, continue creating jobs, and give back to their communities. NFIB appreciates his leadership in standing up for small businesses in our state.”
The deduction was originally introduced as part of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. It enables small business owners to deduct up to 20% of their qualified business income, aiming to create more parity between smaller firms and larger corporations.
