South Dakota Lottery reported three significant Powerball wins on Wednesday, continuing a streak of large prizes for players in the state.

A notable win came from a player who used the Powerball Double Play add-on. This feature enters ticket numbers into a second drawing, which led to a $500,000 second prize. The winning ticket was bought at Hy Vee Gas in Sioux Falls. The player matched five out of five numbers in the Double Play drawing and missed only the Double Play Powerball for the top $10 million prize.

Another player also benefited from the Double Play feature, securing a $50,000 third prize with a ticket purchased at Stones Truck Stop in Watertown.

In addition to these wins, a traditional Powerball ticket won $200,000 after matching four out of five numbers plus the Powerball. The Power Play add-on multiplied this third-prize win by four. The winning ticket was sold at 4E Foods in Philip.

These recent successes follow an Aug. 23 drawing that produced a $2 million winner in Mobridge. In August alone, South Dakota has seen winners for both Lotto America and Dakota Cash jackpots.

The upcoming Labor Day weekend may see continued interest as Saturday’s estimated Powerball jackpot stands at $950 million, ranking as the sixth largest in game history.

Winners are encouraged by the South Dakota Lottery to sign their tickets immediately and have 180 days from the draw date to claim their prizes. Prizes can be claimed at any South Dakota Lottery redemption center, with additional information available on the official website: https://lottery.sd.gov/claim-your-prize/.

Revenue generated from lotto games is split between two major state funds. Seventy percent goes to the General Fund supporting K-12 education and higher learning institutions, while thirty percent is directed to the Capital Construction Fund for infrastructure and environmental projects.
