U.S. Senator John Thune (R-S.D.) has praised the Senate’s approval of a reconciliation bill backed by Republicans, which he says will deliver lasting tax relief to families and small businesses in South Dakota. The legislation also includes provisions aimed at supporting the agriculture sector and providing resources for the B-21 bomber mission at Ellsworth Air Force Base.
According to Thune, the bill represents a significant investment in border security, aims to increase American energy independence, and seeks to address waste, fraud, and abuse within federal programs.
“The Senate’s reconciliation bill will put more money in the pockets of South Dakota families and strengthen farms, ranches, and small businesses across our state for generations to come,” said Thune. “This historic legislation delivers on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make our country safer, stronger, and more prosperous, and I look forward to getting these pro-growth policies working for the people of South Dakota.”
The legislation makes permanent the tax cuts first enacted in 2017 under Republican leadership. It is intended to further benefit families by increasing their disposable income. Provisions in the bill are designed to support economic growth by encouraging small businesses and family-owned farms to invest in their operations and workforce.
In addition to economic measures, the bill provides support for agriculture producers and rural communities throughout South Dakota. Resources allocated for Ellsworth Air Force Base are expected to bolster its mission while contributing to national security objectives.
