U.S. Senator John Thune is inviting college students to apply for paid spring internships in his Washington, D.C., office as well as his state offices in Aberdeen, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls. The program offers interns the chance to observe the legislative process and attend Senate votes and hearings in the nation’s capital. Those selected for positions in South Dakota will participate in constituent services and outreach activities.
According to Thune, “Interns who are selected will receive a firsthand look at the legislative process and the day-to-day life in a congressional office. In Washington, interns will have the opportunity to attend Senate votes and hearings and participate in other activities that are unique to Capitol Hill. Students who are interested in interning in Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, or Rapid City will find an equally rewarding experience with assisting staff on important constituent service requests and state outreach activities, which are critical to my work for the people of South Dakota. I encourage all college students who are interested in these opportunities to apply today.”
Interns working in both locations will interact with constituents, develop research and writing skills, and gain practical office experience. Applications must be submitted by November 9, 2025 at https://sen.gov/O1488 or found under the “Services” tab at www.thune.senate.gov.
Senator Thune currently serves as Senate majority leader and is a member of several key committees: Commerce, Science, and Transportation; Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry; and Finance.
