Of the 879,336 citizens living in South Dakota in 2020, 663,589 were old enough to vote as of April 13, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

The bureau reported 330,638 of those people were female and 332,951 were male.

Data for this story was compiled from the bureau’s American Community Survey. Information from the survey helps to determine how federal and state funds are distributed.
