Driver No. 1: Vivica Barse, 19, Peever, S.D., No Injuries
Vehicle: 2010 Chevy Malibu
Driver No. 2: Andrzej Walczak, 68, Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada, Fatal Injuries
Vehicle: 2015 Honda 750 Aero Motorcycle
WATERTOWN S.D. – A Winnipeg Manitoba Canada man has been identified as the person who died Thursday in a vehicle-motorcycle crash north of Watertown.
Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2015 Honda 750 Aero motorcycle was southbound on Interstate 29 when it was rear-ended by a southbound 2010 Chevy Malibu. Andrzej Walczak, the 68-year-old motorcycle driver, was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.
Vivica Barse of Pever, S.D., 19, was the driver of the Chevy Malibu and was not injured. Seatbelt use is under investigation and charges are pending.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
