Jeff Brabant, the Vice President of Federal Government Relations for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), spoke on KABD in Sioux Falls to discuss the impending tax increase that could affect small businesses in South Dakota. Brabant highlighted the importance of Congress making the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent.
This deduction, established under the 2017 tax law, was aimed at balancing the competitive landscape between small businesses and larger corporations. Brabant explained that it has helped small business owners tackle economic challenges but is set to expire at the end of 2025.
Brabant emphasized, "The Main Street Tax Certainty Act would make the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent and avoid a massive tax hike on a majority of America’s small businesses."
